Culinary Experience

For many of us, the kitchen was the center of a home. Mom’s fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, snack times with friends, fresh fruit on the countertop for a passing snack. The smell of freshly baked bread wafting throughout the house, anticipating the oven opening to take that very first bite. Or maybe it was the teriyaki take-out with a glass of wine surrounded by laughter. We are redesigning our culinary experience at the Gardens to reflect connections, relationships, and love. When residents show interest, we have frequently hosted cooking classes and shared the outcomes with staff and residents alike – so delicious!

Chef-Curated Meals

With beautiful presentation and focus on taste, our Chef has been expanding our menu for seasonal offerings and ensuring our environment is relaxed to enjoy friendship around the table. Currently mealtimes are quite loose and we ensure each resident gets fed no matter the time but here are traditional times for meals:

  • Breakfast: 8:00 - 9:30am
  • Lunch: 12:00 - 1:30pm
  • Dinner: 5:00 - 6:30pm

Pulled pork sandwiches, fish tacos, fresh soup options, fresh vegetable offerings and more can be found on our plates. As the dementia disease progresses menu offerings change for the individual as a focus on increased calories may occur and specialized texture diets may be necessary.

Dining Service

Your service is provided by many high school young adults, as we are dedicated to training up the next generation of workers in a safe mentorship environment. The high schoolers enjoy learning, serving, and connecting with our residents, and help foster our expanding inter-generational model. As our current high schoolers head out for their next adventure, fresh faces enter for a nice rotation of personalities and interests.

Don’t worry if you miss a meal due to a medical appointment. Our team will ensure a pack lunch is made with advance notice, or, when you get back – pop in for a quick bite.

Our Chef hosts a monthly open forum to receive feedback, recipes, and recommendations on what to put on next month’s menu. Check the activity calendar for the next upcoming forum. In between serving times, our Chef makes the rounds in the dining room to check in on you. How is the food? Do you need a coffee refill? Do you need a listening friend? We are there for you; breaking bread with you on a daily basis.
